My Approach
It’s simple, really. What Ruthie Made is a creation of Ruthie Sudderth (me!) to share my love of food, entertaining, recipes and adventures with others. I want to make good food accessible to everyone I know! To do that, I try to provide simple recipes with ingredients that aren’t impossible to find, are affordable and most importantly, that taste great. I also hope to push you to try new things, learn new cooking skills, and help you overcome cooking anxiety!
My Story
Since I started posting food photos and recipes on my Instagram page a few years ago, I started getting requests for food and cooking advice, different kinds of recipes, and a place to house all the recipes I was creating. In conversations with friends, I kept hearing the phrase “Well, I decided to see what Ruthie made!” – and that phrase has stuck with me and has become the name of my website!
Meet Ruthie
Hi friends! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a thirty-something mom of twins and wife and full-time public affairs healthcare professional. I’ve lived most of my adult live in the Lansing, Michigan region, though I had brief stints in Minnesota, New York City and Detroit. I was born and raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Living in these different settings with vastly different cultures gave me an appreciation for different kinds of food, from vegan to ethnic cuisines to midwestern meat and potatoes dishes. As a result, that’s what I eat and cook for my family: everything. Some days I go meatless and I love experimenting with plant-based dishes. Some days I love a good steak. Some days I’m all about the flavors of the Middle East or Mexico.
Other than cooking, I am a hockey goalie and general hockey fanatic, singer, piano player and writer.
My recipes and stories have something for everyone, and I appreciate you joining me on this journey!
